Location: Ofrinio (or Tuzla) is a touristic village, situated in Kavala area (Greece) - some hours drive by the capital of Bulgaria - city of Sofia. Distance from Bulgarian-Greece border chekpoint "Kulata" is about 90 km., from Kavala - 60 km., from Asprovalta - 25 km. and from Thessaloniki - about 100 km. The gulf of Ofrinio is in closeness to Thessaloniki-Kavala highway, where two trans European main roads cross.

About the region:
Kavala, the prefectural capital, is one of the most attractive of Greece's largest cities, rising like an ampitheatre from the beautiful harbor up to a huge Byzantine fortress. Built on the ancient city of Neopolis, the cities population doubled in 1922 when the Greeks from Asia minor made there way here during the exchange of populations. The spacious squares, contemporary buildings, and shopping centres on the west side of the city form a pleasant contrast to the traditional old houses, tiny gardens and flagged alleyways of the eastern side. The harbour is particularly picturesque with its countless brightly coloured fishing caiques moored along the waterfront. Among the city's impressive landmarks are the old walls, the Byzantine castle, and the Kamares - the aqueduct erected by Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century, Mehmet Ali's house (18th century) and the Imaret, a Turkish building.
Close to the gulf of Ofrinio is situated the ancient town of Amphipoly, which rises in tiers above several hills on the left bank of Struma river. It dates about 437 years B.C. and its strategic location, gives a growth in the shipbuilding, which improves economic rise of the town.
Towards the gulf the peninsula of Sveta Gora (Holly Forest) can be seen. It is the one and only self-governing monachal country in the world, as well as one of the most significant locations for the East Orthodox Church, with rich historic inheritance.
Some 30 km. from Ofrinio the Alistrati cave is situated. It is defined as one of the biggest and most beautiful caves in Greece - with its eccentric and queer formations, stalactites and stalactones - a real prove for greatness of nature!
