The town of Bansko is located at the foot of Pirin mountain, in close proximity to the National nature park Pirin. The climate in that region makes the snow cover exist from December to the end of April, the alpine characteristics of Pirin mountain offers ecxellent opportunities for professional and amateur ski sport. The ski-runs in Bansko, which are 56 km long, are being maintained during the whole season. The ski centre offers 16 km long ski route, it is equipped with machines for artificial snow and lightening, connects the resort's high parts with the town. Cabine lift for 8 people, five four-seat lifts type Doppelmayer, one three-seat lift type Poma, six ski-towers and others are still in use.

Bansko resort impresses not only with its age-old history and culture, but with its great number of competitions and tournaments in all aspects of winter sports. The atmosphere in all the narrow streets hasn't changes even ourdays - churches, museums, houses from the Revival period and  taverns in traditional style. The town is part of  the One hundred tourist objects project of the Bulgarian tourist union. International festivals like "Bansko jazz fest", "Pirin folk - Banslko" and others are organized annualy in the town.
